Hospital Cover

Helps pay for a range of treatments when you're admitted to hospital. Hospital cover gives you access to private hospitals, choice of health practitioners, and avoiding public hospital wait lists.

Extras Cover

Helps pay for a range of everyday healthcare treatments and products that Medicare doesn't cover such as dental, glasses, massage and more.

Combined Cover

Includes both hospitals and extras cover. Benefit from both types of insurance under one policy that covers a range of healthcare treatments both in and out of hospital.

Health Insurance Limits

Extras benefit limits place a cap on the amount you can claim. They typically reset every 12 months.

Waiting periods

Waiting periods apply to both extras and hospital policies. You will need to serve these before using the service and making a claim when you first join or increase your level of cover.

Switching

Switching health funds is quick and easy. Depending on your current excess level, you can transfer your waiting periods from your old policy to your new one so you can get started on claiming without having to wait.

Government Rebate

The private health insurance rebate makes health insurance cheaper for most people. Your exact rebate is determined by your age and income.

Lifetime Health Cover

The Lifetime Health Cover loading (LHC) kicks in if you don't have private hospital cover by age 31. You'll pay 2% extra for each year you're uninsured when you eventually get it.

Medicare Levy Surcharge

The Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS) is an income tax of up to 1.5% for high-income earners who do not have the appropriate level of private hospital cover. MLS is in addition to the Medicare Levy and is payable at tax time each year.
